Why this site exists
Search for anything about Coinbase and you'll find pages that are years out of date. They still compare GDAX fees, recommend Coinbase Pro (retired in 2023) or suggest lenders like BlockFi and Voyager (both bankrupt since 2022). Crypto products change fast, so we cite every fact to an official source and date every page. When we can't confirm a fee, we tell you where to find the current number instead of guessing. Read how we research.
We aren't affiliated with Coinbase or any exchange. Our only commercial link is to a free investing workshop, and every page says so (see our disclosure).
The part every exchange guide skips
Coinbase, Kraken and Robinhood all sell you the same bitcoin at nearly the same price. Choosing a cheaper app might save you a percent or two. When you buy and sell can move your results by far more than that. Bitcoin has fallen more than 75% from its peak more than once, and many people bought near those peaks. Our When to buy guides explain market cycles, dollar-cost averaging and the habits that cause people to buy high and sell low.
